Motorcycle Crash Course 101 - Ceno Mesh Jacket jacket and Ceno Street Gloves
by Joel Sadau
I am an avid street rider with numerous track days under my belt.
This is a testimony for other motorcycle riders to learn from - wear your gear!
...Not long ago I was riding my Honda RC51 on the street that day.
Conditions were good.
I accelerated through 3rd gear and was somewhere close to 90 mph and the throttle stuck!
Trying to slow the bike, I had applied the front brake and the front end tucked and I
went down on the left side.
I slid on the asphalt for approximately 300 feet and as the bike passed me sliding, I thought this cant be good for me or the bike. The bike bounced off the post of the guard rail and broke the front rim.
I jumped up and went to get the bike out of the road.
I got to the bike and picked it up and moved it to the side of the road and rested it there.
A nice couple sat with me until Terry (my wife) that was riding in the group could retrieve the tow vehicle.
The quote of the day, " Dude! You're alive."
Thanks to Komodo Gear, the Ceno Mesh Jacket jacket and Ceno Street Gloves I was wearing saved my life. I walked away - can't say that about my bike .
About the gear, the mesh jacket took a real beating on the forearms - they slid on the asphalt the whole time and the mesh gave way due to heat and abrasion (as expected), but the jacket held together and the CE armor stayed where it was supposed to; I didn't suffer any injury besides a strawberry on my forearm from the pounding. The gloves absorbed a lot of abrasion - everywhere - including the knuckles. The hard plastic on the knuckles and fingers did grind down (not all the way) and my hands are injury free as well. The jacket and gloves are toast, but I have no road rash and will always were quality gear.
Above are the pictures of the crashed Ceno mesh jacket and street gloves.
